Kutless Concert

Kutless Concert!
Jen and I were in the back....probably the only two back there jumping up and down and yelling and generally being crazy. :)

Afterwards: sweaty, half-deaf, and with throats sore from screaming. And thoroughly happy.
Kayt and Jord I wish you could have been there!

Catch up

Good Saturday!
So this past week was Gillette Spirit week, complete with wear-your-Jammie's-to-class, twin-day and a bonfire/camp out.
Tuesday, I met up with some girlies to work out in the gym. After acquainting myself with the various dangerous-looking paraphernalia, I opted for the good ole treadmill. After jogging 4 miles, getting entirely drenched in sweat and watching a volleyball game through the window, we headed to Lambein for the open house cookie night! And promptly canceled out any calories burnt. :)
Wednesday, we went to and open house at President Mullen's home. It was quite delightful. she had a scrapbook page for each of us freshmen to fill out. (By far the best part.)

Definitely a more challenging week, academically....but not super stressful. A good balance. I laugh a lot here.

Wow, already the 14th! Everything has gone really smoothly so far (granted I've crossed the line into granny-mode...going to bed at some ridiculous hour like 9.

Beth and Sass, my roommate (in the pink) with her awesome new chair!

Getting a lot of sleep and I've been going on tons of walks. It's just so soothing and I love discovering new roads.Well, inevitably I did get lost. See, there is this wooded path branching off of Centerville Rd...that I was determined to discover. I started out around 7 meaning to be back in 30 minutes...but as is typical I got entirely caught up in the beauty and romance of the whole place with it's little clearings and the smell of fall....and before I knew it, it was too dark to see the trail-markers....and that's when I discovered it was an entire network of paths. I actually got quite scared and probably made a few circles...started running...and praying...hard. And then I saw The Light....I felt like singing that one hymn :)

Finally back in civilization I decided it would be best to recruit someone before I went gallivanting in the woods. So I've stuck to the roads...the houses are charming and it's just as delightful. Just yesterday I found Seymour Rd. I reached the end and then followed this path. It lead to a dried up stream bed with tons of flat rocks...they looked so much like tablets I could just see Moses holding them (actually they were huge and I wondered how on earth he carried them all down :)

Friday was lovely...had a party in Jen and Heidi's room....we started Narnia and by the time we finished we had about eight girls. And discovered the movie Breakfast at Tiffanies. She's crazy...we had a lot of laughs.

Academically things are going well. I'm careful to schedule each week out according to the syllabus. (plural? sylibi?) Mondays and Friday's are the longest, but today Spanish was canceled and I was done with homework by 3. And even though Psychology's at 7:45am I find myself quite interested in it. We're on the States of Consciousness chapter (aka-sleep) One night I couldn't sleep and decided to try their Paradoxal intention approach. (Stop worrying about sleeping-How long can I stay awake) Didn't work. But I appreciate the knowledge.

The food here is ok....but I can always depend on their salad bar and bagels...oh and their peanut butter cookies. I've started really great friendships with some of the Lambein girls. Some of them I just re-name a name that I know Ill remember....I have Cleopatra Queen of the Nile. From Alaska..absolutely gorgeous, wears flowing dresses and looks like she stepped out of Lord of the Rings. And Jane Eyre...absolutely crazy over classic books...Pride and Prejudice etc :)

Luv ya'll!

Ah, the start of another week...Monday was quite the hullabaloo...had managed to loose my student ID...reluctantly let me into breakfast on the condition of promising that I would get a new ID by lunch...but then they wouldn't let me into chapel...so I go to get new one in the campus center, find the ID door closed....walk back up...learn that you have to ask...go down ask...learn that they can't charge it to my student account...run back to the dorm...pay for the ID...run to chapel, scooch into the wrong row, climb over a seat, loose my shoe, sit down, wish for invisibility. :) Whew!

Tuesdays and Thursdays are my easy days...so today was a breeze...finished homework before super and was able to go to the CLEW (Christian Leadership Emphasis Week) meeting...the speaker this week is absolutely amazing..she makes me laugh and cry...with energy exuding from every syllable...

After the CLEW meeting I headed up to the library....to see if I could find a good novel. To no avail, but was awed by the sheer amount of deliciously old books (hence language that could only be less cumbersome if read aloud in some Shakespearean play.) ...Chaucer, Bacon....all those famous authors whose books I'd never scene...it was actually quite glorious, the smell of the old books, yellowed and spotted and absolutely begging for someone to pour over the pages of lore.

And now it is time to catch up on sleep.

Weekend!

Yaay! No more head-cold! Made it through the school week and loved it!
Just found out that Mackenzie will be up to visit...super exciting :)

This weekend was awesome. Friday I was able to give the room a thorough scouring..pickup/vacume/dusting session. Plus, of course with the music blasting. I was in the middle of waiting for the laundry to finish and decided to give myself a pedicure...so you would have found me walking around with those weird blue toe separators....they're actually quite uncomfortable. :) That night watched Remember the Titans with my RA (really good; highly recommend it)
Saturday was glorious...walked the full length of Centerville road (my adopted jogging road.) It was very eventful. Towards the end of the road 2 untied dogs communicated quite clearly that should I put one toe on their territory I would become breakfast. I was too set on reaching the end of the road to let them win....although I can't say how I felt about having a conversation with 2 canines concerning walker safety and my respect for their territory. There was a garage sale going on that morning and about 6 Amish buggies passed.

Lydia and Brianna rocking it :)

Women's soccer game. All the girls got dressed up crazily to cheer them on....Heidi and Jen and I continue the movie night tradition. Watched the Fantastic Four last night.
And this morning's church service was awesome. The sermon focused on the Parable of the prodigal son and how God really likes a party....and that we need to live that enthusiasm for Christ out here on earth...to let people have a taste of the party that awaits in heaven.
Well adios mi amigos!

Head cold

It struck about 4pm yesterday.....I was suddenly super tired. It annoyed me. I had finished all my homework and was ready to savor a beautiful evening. I tried taking a nap but only reached half-consciousness. Had I not felt like I had stepped in front of steam roller I would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Someone found the fantastic noises made by blowing through a long piece of cardboard; a percussion band immediately assembled to assist and went forth through the halls on every floor of the dorm. One lovely soul had decided to vacuum....And somebody was looking for Sam...occasionally yelling her name to no avail. As it turned out we had a hall meeting at 9 in the chapel...it was more like a dorm meeting...there were several skits illustrating why there were certain rules...by 10:30 we had split into smaller groups with more specific items to cover...and by 11pm we were back in the dorm the general population energized to pull an all nighter. And I commenced to collapse into bed thoroughly and entirely dead....well today I am slightly more functional. Chorus was out of the question due to throat issues...but other than sounding raspy... life is looking up...thank You God for citrus cough drops and hot tea :)
