Quote of the Day: "Their DNA chooses JESUS"-vision poem

Innocene: collectors edition!

Ok, so I know I'm a week behind, but the pics of all my latest adventures happen in be in my camera which happens to be in the car with mom, who happens to be at Fish Creek.

So I thought I'd suffice for now with a poem that has finally come to completion in my mind. I started it my junior year in high school...I couldn't get beyond that one line (the last in the following poem) or really return to the context from which my subconscious had seemingly thrust that line. So I found it...and it was because of my Babylon experiences years after that first line. It feels rather enlightening :) Ok, here it is:

Innocence: collectors edition!
It flies away
Through the bloody metal shards
Of scars
And then suddenly another glimpse
Dewy wings breaking out of a chrysalis
You want to hold them down with your fingers
So it wont fly away
Again
But that will only result in
Not living
The whispers of butterfly wings
Pinned in a collectors box

So Sunday was absolutely lovely. Mucho hymns (much to J's dismay:) The speaker gave a really good sermon.

Afterward we headed towards Placid so Dad could pick up something for Hannah's bike. And now for the part that totally made my day: while he did that Kayt, Jord and I went to price chopper for groceries. I mysteriously found myself wondering around in the candy isle...staring glassy eyed up at the dark chocolates. There was this salesman there...an older guy, whistling away merrily. We started talking and he ended up telling me a history of the guy a that founded Ghiradeli chocolates. Apparently he came to America for the gold-rush. The salesman was so genuinely friendly to everyone that passed...I was quite inspired. He encouraged me to get the chili-dark chocolate. And I did. Just tried it today, in fact and it's absolutely perfect....sweet and spicy...but a gentle spicy...it makes me feel Spanish. Love it. So that has been my latest inspiration; to acquaint myself with the history of the chocolate I love. :)

Sunday night Hannah got out the "Sparklers:" Super fun:

Hannah's been waiting to use these!

Happy 18th Birthday Faith!

Saturday was Faith's 18th Birthday! You just can't refuse an 11pm invite to a party. And she and her sisters are all so lovely....It felt good to finally have a bit of spontaneity in my life. Here are the pics:
Ready to go...sorry, no chocolates, just reeeally good book :)

There the Birthday girl is! "Isn't she lovely...isn't she wonderful....lalala"

Their sweet records totally made my day-a blast from the past-love it

Hmmm...which one?
Whatever happened to good music?

Pool time! They have this awesome solar insulator thing (don't know what I'm talking about) and the water was really nice and warm

"Come on in!"

Our warm-weather beauty tries to conserve heat :)

Quiet smiles

towels and toes

And chips!

Not to mention the amazing view, oh, and ping pong, and bat mitten.

In short it was awesome...a good balance between real mellow in the afternoon and then upped the energy in the evening with pizza and more people :) Love it. Thank you Faith for having a Birthday!

Jordy's Brithday loot!

He's back, he's back, he's back!-YL tees and all! After babysitting, I came home and we had his gift-opening marathon. :) Or loot as Calvin and Hobbes puts it.

"I can't read cursive."

The awesome pocket knife from Aunt Betty and Aunt Pat

Grandma's present-love the box-those candy cigarettes are great for 50s night!

A quilt! Jean on one side and animals on the other-it's tradition for graduates to get a quilt...it was actually really beautiful.

And a duffel bag which will come in handy

And now for the present we've all been waiting for....

Dun da dun!
Mackenzie, check out that smile!

Beautiful

As we all crowd around

His baby-their first song together: My Savior, My God :)
Thanks Mackenzie for everything, we all love it!

Yaay for days off!

Mom's bringing Jordy back from work crew! He loves rice (for breakfast, no less!) so I made him a big pot of it.
My aunt and family are camping at fish creek this next week, where Cassandra will join them-very excited to see them.
Then Mom's driving Dad and Jord to the airport for J's graduation-celebration-camping trip in Yellowstone National park. It felt the same way with Kayt for a while:Hi-bye all the time.
She'll drop me in Plattsburgh to do the second round of college shopping. I love the anticipation as it all gets closer.....

You know there's something wrong when you're freezing in August

Hannah brought in the 1st red leaf of fall-WHAT?!-I'm horrified

So I've been in this major sewing phase-no more sewing pile! Yaay! I'm just learning how to sew stretchy fabrics and use elastic and backing. Usually I just do touch ups...did two pairs of pants, a dress, a skirt, and my Houghton T. :)

The dress: Used to be floor length and ever so witchy looking.

The only pair of pants I own that aren't hand-me-downs.
Sewed to mimic skinny jeans

Houghton T and my "Africa skirt"-shortened

Sweet summers skirt bought from one of the local stores and the awesome, super-long scarf from our very own camp store

To do list

Good beautiful, sunny, lovely day!

Got off from nannying today around lunch time. Yesterday I had one of those days where I just hit a wall. Took the bus home and got back around 4. And then it was like I was suddenly drained of any motivation. So today was one of those delightful days where I am actually looking forward to getting to my long to-do list...Most of it concerns stuff I just want to get done before college, (projects etc). Yes, I am a chronic list-maker...sometimes I even write down stuff I've already done so I can just cross it off. :)

Got pictures developed today. Most of them are for a little flip-book project I'm doing. I'd like to get it done so I can give it to Cassandra before she leaves for PA.

Song of the Day: Shattered

"How many times can I brake till I shatter...All I feel is the realness I'm faking.."-amazing lyrics
