Old Abandoned houses

Hello my lovelies!
Just want to let you all know I am indeed alive and well and loving life.

Since I'm leaning towards the field of social work, my advisor suggested I take a few dabbling courses just to see. So I'm taking Sociology, and educational psych next semester. I'm super excited! (Although more than ready for and in need of Thanksgiving break.)It's all in His hands.
Currently I'm totally loving fall. Today we performed in Gospel Choir for a church in Rochester. The worship just gets better every time. And on the way back everything seemed so peaceful, the way a Sunday afternoon was meant to be. With me avidly pointing out old abandoned houses.."oh,oh,oh I'll live in that one!" (My parents were content once I had abandoned the I-could-live-in-a-barn stage.) Houses with boarded up windows and such just have "so much scope for the imagination." And potential and an aire of mystery. on the drive home, the sun beams broke through the clouds and turning the telephone wires all gold and we played crazy "I spy" games. :)
Oh, and have you heard of the book/movie Twilight? Well, the girl's here are quite awe struck (to put it nicely)by the whole production. One found herself so moved by the dashing young man that plays the vampire, that she commenced to line our halls with posters of him and the heroine. Thus, every morning I am scandalized by this man staring at me from the end of our hallway. That is the LAST thing I want to see after tumbling out of bed. And when I return from classes I hold my hands up like blinders....muttering mutinously under my breath. (Needless to say, I am less than a fan...although I certainly do not plan on not seeing the movie:)

In any case, God is Great and I wish you all an amazing Thanksgiving.

Back at my 2nd home!

Yaaaaay! Well, the 1st week back at Houghton has been pretty good. Busy, but good. We had an awesome Gospel choir retreat. God is SOOO good.
Oh, and just recently discovered kick-boxing classes-love it.

Um....prayer requests:

-That my camera/blog would stop being a pain and allow me to put pics on it (and not weird letters etc:)

-That God would continue to just bless Gospel Choir, especially our performances tomorrow at church and next Friday for NCMSLC.

-His blessing also on Monday's Women's choir performance

-And the upcoming Biblical Literature test.

So life is good. We had Fall fest with caramel apples and I painted a pumpkin!

October Break!

I felt bad leaving Sass...but definitely ready to be home for a bit. Rachel offered to drive me to a half-way point where Dad picked me up. Awesome meal at Cracker Barrel. When I got home Hannah was still up and super excited to see me. :)

Yaaaay! So good to see my family and talk to them face to face. I had forgotten our various household quirks. How only our microwave heats a drink perfectly at 2 minutes or needs the handle wiggled in order to start. Or how our VCR eats video tapes. And how I can hear the heater as it starts every morning: VaaavaavaavaavaavavavavvavvVROOOOOOM. But hey, we're moving up in the world! Mom got these sweet new drinking glasses and a new video-tape player...AND Kayt's painting her room a sky-blue!

Yaay for home-cooked meals!

Study, Study, Study

Dress up!

So today the home-schoolers did the traditional celebration of Columbus Day. Each kid dresses up like a historical someone and gives a little speech. Kayt and I helped out a bit. And then did a spur-of-the-moment skit based on the story of the Greek gods and how Helen of Troy was kidnapped. Rapidly throwing on different costumes was the best. I swear pricey clothing stores have nothing on our camp proproom: check out the fabrics!

We decided she'd wear the strapless dress to prom :)

Love the white and black.

Homecoming Weekend!

Friday night:Swing dance time! Rachel became my veritable dress store...borrowing is just like shopping except you don't have to pay and it doesn't collect dust in your closet after the big event. :)

Trying on all the dresses was definitely half the fun.

All dolled up:)

And of course there's food..."It's Houghton!"

Ah, the magic of colonial days.....future note to self-definitley need to have a random-dress 1800's day.

------------------------------------------
Saturday morning...... Mackenzie visits!

sisters! sisters!

They had quite the set-up for all the families visiting.

That night: girl's night out!!! (Yes I know it's sideways..I couldn't find how to turn it right-side -up ...sorry!)

Really, Corina, you're taking more pictures?!

*Gasp* "Real Food!"
Let us now share this food...
